From my bed,
waning moon
glides
across a velvet sky.
A planet
shimmers nearby,
far above
the earth
and
my head.
The Blue Marble rotates.
Woke up
7:00 a.m.
to pumpkin spice darkness
odorless
it took only one dream and half a nightmare
to travel the
forty-three point seven five six million miles
to the red planet.
Do I still need a mask?
California wildfire smoke has been visibly in the air in the San Francisco Bay Area for a while now, but NEVER like this. Although it looks super creepy, apparently, the fog acts like a buffer. The smoke rests above it. My own photos don’t do it justice so …
This shot is from my daughter’s house in Vallejo, CA at 9:00 am this morning
And this one, 10:00 am, where she works as brewmaster at the Mare Island Brewing Co.
On that note, I’ll leave you with a find by Rosi Hollinbeck, writer, blogger, children’s book reviewer extraordinaire. It probably speaks for all of us.
❤ Be Well, Dear Reader ❤
Wow. The smoke is much worse there than here. Stay safe and stay inside. Take care of yourselves.

Actually, not as bad as it looks, but staying in anyway. And apologies for misspelling your name. It’s been corrected 🙂

Thankfully, it looks worse than it is. At least here, it does. You take care, too, Susanne 🙂

That looks just like our South coast at the beginning of the year. So utterly terrifying. Yes, I think we all feel a bit like the sentiments of that sign.

This is fantastical. I keep wishing I could send the West Coast some of the extraordinary amount of water we’re getting here on the Gulf Coast.
