HIGHLAND HIGH-JINX

With the weather taking a turn, I ditched the broom and opted for United Airlines. Once we reached our cruising altitude, the skies turned friendly, reflecting the lovely crew members’ cordiality, making my journey to Scotland if not completely comfortable (22F had its challenges) at least sociable, swift, and safe. Even if they had been rude, nothing could have spoiled my excitement over a reunion with friends I’d only visited with separately during the last nine years.

Sadly, our fortnight together last month has already come and gone, but for now, while I sort photos and stories, I want to at least share with you a few Highland and Hebrides highlights with the added texture of a limerick that we cobbled together as we neared the end of our adventure ~

Three mavens from far points are we
In a house so cozy and wee
Stirring the love
From heaven above
Where lochs are carved from the sea

One day we set out on a trip
To Callanish traveling by ships

The circle of stones
Pushed life through our bones

Curling the hair on our lips

We heard fiddles and bagpipes galore
In concerts,

on car rides,

and more…
Tunes swayed from the trees

Bringing bees to their knees
As we rambled through forest and moor

We sat by the window at night
To spot UFOs in their flight

Then went to our beds
With ETs in our heads
But had to rely on third sight

To the land of the Scots a good-bye
A struggle it is not to cry

Still under the spell
We know all is well
We’ll be back in the wink of an eye

Haste ye back, as they say ~ and thank you for stopping by today 🙂
