…and the faery known as Thrill-Seeker, the only one of her sort to attend this type of celebration since the Sleeping Beauty debacle, first soared to the rafters of the modest nursery, stopped short, reached into her pouch of post-natal best wishes and sprinkled the babe in a soft shower of aromatic flower petals. “This,” she whispered, “is the inoculation against even the most minimal bouts of hodophobia you may experience in your lifetime.”
The pixie then dove off her perch and plummeted to within an inch of the slumbering infant’s feet where she hovered and drew a long, deep breath into her pocket-sized fluorescent frame. Ever so slowly, she exhaled one half of it in a focused stream of destinations upon the wee soles of the newborn’s feet
before pausing and puffing the other half into the child’s pitter-pattering heart. “This,” she whispered, “is Wanderlust – the seed of your desire to travel…
“From this day forth, you will heed its call when you feel the tickle in your toes or hear the whisper within your heart that beckons you to strike out on a new adventure.”
Where did you end up the last time the Wanderlust fairy paid a visit?
Safe Travels on your next adventure!

Ha! I wandered across an ocean and a continent and ended up in San Francisco! This gorgeous light-bringing city will be my home from now on. Which means I will have to find new wanderlust destinations. Maybe Amsterdam?

Those are lovely photos! I don’t have wanderlust anymore…I’ve turned into a serious homebody in my old age. But if I could teleport anywhere (and be home in time for bed), I’d want to go to New Zealand. 🙂

I love being at home too, Teresa. I’m not a fan of the traveling part, either. But when you feel the awesomeness of being in the glow worm caves in the South Island, it’s well worth the trip. Do it! Get your butt to New Zealand. I’m sure there’s a story in it, too.

Thank you for the new word (hodophobia)! I don’t have the same wanderlust as you, my peripatetic friend, though I am occasionally bitten by fairies, often as not on my feet, too. Just last weekend I was in Montreal (a 2 hour jaunt down the highway) and before that Mexico. This summer? Who knows?!

Looks to me like you’re well on your way. Throwing a dart at a map of the world might help with your choice. See you in Mongolia, maybe?

You know, Donna, I don’t have a travel bucket list because I don’t want to set myself up for being disappointed if it doesn’t happen. BUT, Mongolia looks to me like a fascinating place to visit as does the far western reaches of China such as Xinjiang Province. I am intrigued by crossroad places such as Xinjiang, Mongolia, Bhutan, and Tibet where cultures and people clash. So, okay. See you in Mongolia!
