When this very second is no longer the future and becomes the past in less time than it takes to type this sentence, living in the moment almost seems easy, but is it? If I just plug along and operate on auto pilot, it is. When I stop, step back, and breathe I am able to appreciate and acknowledge the ephemeral beauty, as well as chaos, that I am an integral part of and might otherwise miss…
Mahalo Io,
for this magnificent morning
for caressing my cheek with Your warm breath
and fanning a palm earlier today on the distant horizon
reminding me to swing, sway, and dance with joy in Your honor.
Mahalo Io
for spraying whip cream angels riding dragons across the vast canopy
reminding me You have a wonderful sense of humor.
Mahalo Io
for awakening the memory of Your voice in every wave’s thundering crash
and for leaving behind a hint of Your kiss in its wake,
hidden in the surf’s spray
reminding me You are always present,
even in a nonchalant passer-by.
Mahalo Io
for the miniscule fly skittering helter-skelter across this page
reminding me that although I am but a tiny speck of protein in this infinite universe
I have a great impact on my world
One that is definitely not as decorative, but quite possibly longer lasting
than those left by my ancestors
Mahalo Io
for giving me this opportunity to recognize on my own that now is the time to act.
Mahalo Io
for a new day
and renewed hope
And mahalo nui loa to you my reader. Thank you very much for joining me today.
Malama pono – until we meet again.
Aloha!
